:: About Me
I'm 24, and just got back from 5 months of volunteering at a boarding school in Northern Thailand... I think the next step is to work, in order to save up enough money to go to seminary.

So I FINALLY set my four-track back up :) I even messed around with it a little this afternoon and recorded some stuff. Very basic, though, nothing too exciting. Anyways, I think I'm going through a songwriting phase. Hadn't had one of those since last October... Good thing I'm not a professional musician who has to spew out songs regularly, eh!
I've been suffering from a severe case of boredoom this evening. How can I afford to be bored? There's a good question. There really are things I could and should be doing, but... well... yeah.
I had a really good walk/talk with my sister tonight. The air smelled like late spring - if not summer - and we just rambled on meaningfully about our lives, our hopes, our aspirations, our confusions. Sisters are wonderful. Everyone should have one. Actually, let me rephrase that to: everyone should have a Jeanne. ;)
After talking to my friend PD, I've decided to come up with a list of my top 40 best songs ever... But that will take much thought. But be prepared...
And to finish off this post, here is a poem, written by the MUCHLY loved Rima, brilliant young lady and inspire-or of many a music binge :)
Yes, we’re just shadows
stuck with our peripheral vision,
sliding down the rabbit hole.
Unoriginal ideas are over used,
what’s left will be exploited.
My head is lost.
No hesitation, not today,
It came on like that rush of drugs
And left us drained.
Wavering, fading, we’re just shadows,
In all senses of the word.
Looking up to the past,
Contained in boxes
Cast upon the ground
Dragged behind our former selves.
But once upon a time
we woke from denial
and materialized.
Butterflies could have been
our ancestors.
Yes, once we were real
and when it rained
we never ran for cover.
At least we could feel it.
Behind our veiled intuition,
the mind has shut the eyes;
We’re not trying to see.
We checked the schedules,
but missed the train.
I walked out onto the platform,
and waited while the torrent
of wind washed over me,
leaving me distilled beyond recognition.
The thought process escalates
your image remains,
Where conclusions stood
we now hide behind theories.
A glass screen could cover us all
our reflections would be the same.
The hint of inspired air we fought down
adorns the separated breaths prevailing.
Shadows,
Walked through, untouched, uncaught,
Slight and insubstantial,
Irrepressible.
A lucent premonition,
The reflected thought.
That is what we are.

So I started a new "what-I-hope-will-soon-become-a-habit" this morning. But let's backtrack.
You see, I am terrible at self-discipline. It is so difficult for me to keep my mind on one thing and not get distracted. This, of course, affects my spiritual life. I don't have the discipline to make sure I spend a chunk of time with God every day. And when I do set apart some time, distraction usually gets the best of me.
So I asked my friend Claire - who has AMAZING self discipline, may I note - how she spent her time with God in the mornings. And she said she writes down her prayers - one before she reads the Word, and one after she's read it. Now there's a way to stay focused, I thought, so I tried it this morning, and indeed! I stayed focused. :) So, I need to make this a habit.
Ok, I need to write a short report on my activities for the church newsletter.
Enjoy this day. Delight in Him.

It's 11pm of a busy week... You'd think I'd have better things to do than to start up my own personal "blogspot". And right you are! There are indeed many other things I SHOULD be doing. But some things never seem to change. My tendency towards procrastination, for example. So here it is, Thais' first online ramblings ever...
